The music lovers of city beautiful were treated to an amazing Musical delight by Young and talented Tabla player Surjeet Singh and promising Kathak dancer Rohit Pawar on the occasion of the 285th Monthly Baithak Programme organized by Pracheen Kala Kendra at M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium at PKK 35 complex at 6:30 pm here today.
An enduring temperament, blessed with exceptional talent and a resounding persona, Surjeet Singh continues to have a lasting impact on the entire classical music fraternity, as a very promising young tabla player of his generation, across the globe! Surjeet Singh an Graded artist of All India radio. Surjeet singh started his Taleem at the tender age of four. He is learning tabla intricacies from his Guru Sh. Kulwinder singh ji . He has performed in many prestigious concerts as a soloist as well as an accompanist.
Today’s second artist Rohit Pawar is emerged as an energetic and fast rhythmic Kathak dancer who has imbibed the intricacies of this classical dance form under the able guidance of his Guru Smt. Vaswati Misra ji and his brother Rahul Pawar. He is performing since his young age. He have also given some solo performances. As a promising young dancer, he has performed under the guidance of his guru in many prestigious festivals and solo recitals in India & abroad . He has gifted with graceful expressions and movements.
After an introduction and welcome by Kendra’s Secretary Sh. Sajal Koser, Surjeet Singh commenced his programme with traditional Uthan followed Peshkar based on teen tal of Punjab Gharana. Then he moved on to present Kayda, Rela, Palta etc. before technical part consist of gats, Chakradar and farmaishi chakradar amidst applause. He concluded his recital with crisp traditional bandishes of his Gharana. He is ably accompanied by Ishwar Singh on harmonium
After Surjeet, Rohit took the centre stage to perform Kathak presentation.
He started with with Shiv Stuti followed by traditional Kathak in teen taal with vilambit, Madhya and drut layas. He presented traditional tode tukde gat paranas, uthaan , ladi etc. He concluded with colorful Rajasthani mand “kesriya balam padharo humare des” followed by a jugalbandi of sawal jawab with Tabla. His fine footwork and Bhav, Abhinay, expressions and knowledge of the rhythm and taal has drawn encomiums from the audience. Fine team of accompanists Zaheen Khan on Tabla, Mahavir Gangani on Pakhawaj , Ghulam Waris on Sarangi and Sohaib Hasan on Vocal provided support in the success of the concert.
Kendra Registrar Dr. Shobha Koser, an eminent Kathak dance guru along with Secretary Sh. Sajal Koser honored the artists.
